Current Favorites // 002

I know my last post was a Current Favorites, but I have to say that I am liking these posts. They really aren't specific to any topic and I am talking about my favorites. And as always, I would love it if you would leave a comment below telling me what some of your favorites are!

. . . . .

Favorite Song

This song is pretty different than my last favorite song, but nonetheless, it is amazing. Andra Day has such a powerful and captivating voice. The song is very uplifting and I always feel 'larger than life' after hearing this song. It makes me feel like I am going to tackle my biggest fear and kill it. After listening to this song it makes me feel more confident and ambitious. There are many videos of Andra Day's "Rise Up" on YouTube, but the one below is from The Ellen Show, which, in my opinion, is the best one

Favorite App

Feast is my current favorite app. Actually, having a favorite app is quite rare because I don't tend to download apps that frequently on my phone. This one is for my foodies out there. Recipes from different chefs all strategically categorized. Vegetarian? You can easily weed out meals with meat. They also have filters for you if you are Gluten-free, Vegan-friendly, Nut-free, etc. You can favorite recipes, there are beautiful vibrant photos, and my favorite part is the method videos where they teach you how to do things like chop an onion or clean a muscle (perfect for a beginner cook, like me!) The only downside though is the fact that not all recipes are free. There are still plenty of recipes that you don't have to have a premium account for, but there are other times I get disappointed when I find a recipe is locked.

Favorite Person

Karlie Kloss. You probably know her as a Victoria Secret model or one of Taylor Swift's best friends, but she is actually quite cool and now one of my role models. Karlie is more than meets the eye; she is truly an inspiring individual. She has been using her voice to promote girls who code in a predominantly male field. Karlie has partnered with the Flatiron School and created the Kode with Karlie Scholarship for twenty girls to attend the Flatiron School and take courses in software engineering. I wish I was eligible, but at twenty, sadly I am too old. I wish this opportunity was around when I was in high school; but I guess this is still an opportunity to share it with others. So if you are are girl between 13 and 18 and interested in coding, you should check out the Kode with Karlie Scholarship. Below is the official video. (I can't believe it doesn't have more views, but in a way, it is a good thing; if you are interested and eligible, you will probably have a better chance of being one of the twenty)

Favorite Dog

And lastly, on a lighter note, my favorite dog. I just got back from a three-month study abroad trip in Barcelona, where they truly love their dogs. Not a single day goes by where I didn't see or hear a dog.  Seeing them with my two eyes, which surprisingly, had never happened before, only enhanced my love for West Highland Terriers. I don't think much else needs to be said because they say a picture is worth a thousand words; therefore I leave you with this cute face.
